St. Kitts – Nevis Elections Meetings To Start

Supervisor of Elections Mr. Leroy Benjamin has begun a series of meetings to sensitize stakeholders on the new system of confirmation as the electoral reform process continues.

In a Press Release issued on Wednesday, Mr. disclosed that he invited the Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, the Hon. Mark Brantley to meet with him at the new Electoral Office on Central Street.

“The meeting is one in a series planned and follows a similar session with the Electoral Commission. Similar meetings are to be held with the leaders of all political parties in St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Mr. Benjamin.

He said that Prime Minister Douglas and Leader of the Opposition, Brantley were taken on a tour of the new building on Central Street and introduced to the Office Manager, Mr. Oliver Knight and other members of Staff. Dr. Douglas and Mr. Brantley also looked at the equipment in operation.

“During discussions in the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, several issues were raised by the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition including queries encountered during the confirmation and registration processes,” said Mr. Benjamin.

He said that the officials also sought information on the confirmation process which is to be conducted around St. Kitts and Nevis and at Embassies and Consulates overseas.
