Taiwan’s new President, His Excellency Ma Ying-jeou

With the inauguration of the new President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Tuesday, the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has reiterated its support for policy decisions taken by Taipei “in the advancement of its greater participation in global matters.”
In a congratulatory message to His Excellency Ma Ying-jeou, who became the 12th President of Taiwan, St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas said he hopes that as the new Taiwan Government takes the reigns with the confidence of the Taiwan electorate, all challenges will be ably confronted and all efforts to forge the path of greater prosperity and deeper recognition of Taiwan’s true potential for greatness will be crowned with success.
“Over the years, the excellent relations between the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) have grown from strength to strength and we, the Federation have had the pleasure of lending our support to the ongoing efforts of the Taiwan Government and People to take their rightful place in the international community,” said Prime Minister Douglas.
Dr. Douglas hoped for the continued good health and well being of the Taiwan Government and People and the Government and People of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and embrace Taiwan in the spirit of solidarity, goodwill and mutually beneficial understanding.
