Agriculture and tourism, managed properly can constitute a wonderfully productive marriage for the benefit of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas said his Government is committed to seeking every possible way in which these two sectors might serve and advance the interests of each other for the benefit of the state.
He said that the 20-acre Agro-Tourism Demonstration Farm, a collaboration between the Governments of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China with one of the buildings already completed, will offer workshops and seminars to young Kittitians and Nevisians wishing to pursue the important opportunities available in agriculture.
“Irrigation, for example, so key to successful farming, will be provided, so that these budding farmers would be able to competitively grow and display both indigenous and exotic fruit to locals and tourists alike,” said Dr. Douglas during his weekly radio programme “Ask the Prime Minister.”
