Three bills given their first reading at a sitting of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly earlier this month are now available for public scrutiny.
Copies of the Noise Abatement Bill, 2008, introduced by Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas; the Criminal Law Amendment Bill introduced by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, Hon. Dennis Merchant and the Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) (No. 2) BillĀ 2008, introduced by Minister of Public Works, Utilities, Posts and Transport, Dr. the Hon. Earl Asim Martin, are available at the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS), Government Headquarters, Church Street, in Basseterre.
The bills are also available on the Prime Minister’s Website at www.cuopm.com/bills.asp
In keeping with government’s policy of accountability and good governance, the period between the first reading and the second reading, debate and passage, allows individuals and interest groups to peruse the draft legislation and submit comments and suggestions to the relevant ministry or the Legal Department in the Office of the Attorney General.
