Basseterre, St. Kitts (May 24, 2007)
The tone for the 11th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival will be set on Friday as street promotions for the premiere summer event begin.
“Fort Street will be the venue for the first event which will feature live DJ music, exciting giveaways, models, refreshments and lots more,” promised marketing and promotions officer Clement “˜Juni’ Liburd. He added that the atmosphere of the pre festival activity will be greatly enhanced by the “˜new look’ Fort Street which was refurbished and traffic restrictions imposed for the March hosting of the ICC Cricket World Cup.
A similar activity will be held every week throughout the island after the first event. On June 1, the action moves to Mount Idle, Sandy Point. On June 8 the sister Island of Nevis hosts an event at D. R. Walwyn Square in Charlestown. The final activity before the start of the festival is June 15. “Action Avenue” will once again be the venue.
Liburd noted that the events will have elements of added excitement as the actual event draws closer. He encouraged persons to go out and support these events as they prepare for what has grown into one of the hottest summer concerts in the region.
The curtains for the 2007 St. Kitts Music Festival rise on June 21. Artistes scheduled to appear include Lady Saw, Ne-Yo, Sean Paul, Allison Hinds, Michael Bolton, Konris Maynard, Big Boi, Maxi Priest, and Steel Pulse.
EC $100.00 or US$40 remains the modest price of admission for entry to the Warner Park Stadium, the new home of the festival.
