(CHARLESTOWN NEVIS, (November 16, 2006)
The Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry left Nevis on Thursday, November 16th, for the United States of America to meet with Nevisians who reside in Washington, Toronto, Canada and New York.
According to the Premier, the main objective of his trip would be to appraise Nevisians living in the Diaspora of the activities taking place on Nevis.
During his visit to the United States, Premier Parry will take up an invitation from the Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS), where he is expected to deliver an address on the topic “New Economic realities in the Region” at the ICS 8th Annual Caribbean American Leadership Dialogue. The event will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Washington DC from November 17 -18, 2006.
The objective of the Dialogue is to bring together policy makers and practitioners to discuss new and emerging issues affecting trade and investment in the Caribbean.
The matters for discussion include new opportunities offered by the Caribbean Single Market and Economy and the World Cup Cricket and arising their challenges including the potential loss of market share in the tourism sector.
Premier Parry is expected to return to Nevis on Monday November 20th, 2006.
