Nevis Says No To Commercial Sex Workers

St. Kitts and Nevis has joined fellow Caribbean Community (CARICOM) country, Barbados, in declaring that commercial sex workers will not be welcomed to its shores for next year’s Cricket World Cup.

However, Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) that while prostitutes would not be welcomed for the CWC, it was about time that Caribbean people engaged in serious discussions on the decriminalisation of prostitution and homosexuality.

Charlestown Nevis (September 4, 2006) Nevis’ Premier, the Hon Joseph Parry, while giving the feature address at a reception ceremony on Thursday August 31, admonished members of the Nevis Cricket Association that nothing came easy.
 
“My words to them are, nothing comes easy; nothing comes without sacrifice,” said Mr. Parry to the gathering at the Four Seasons Resort Ball Room. “The best players will tell you that they practice five times a day.  Go home early, train hard, stay away from drugs, absolutely, stay away from drugs,” he added.

Charlestown Nevis (September 7, 2006) The Chief Executive Officer of the Nevis Tourism Authority, said that the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show was important to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
