An inviting book with a collection of photographs and recorded comments by Nevisians and residents on the island have been put together in a book entitled: Nevis”¦as we see her.
The book is the first in a series of six, where young and old people of varying backgrounds all recount their personal experiences and histories.
American photographer,Mr.Charles Seton and Canadian author, Ms. Rosemary Willis Sullivan , created the book which illustrates the entertainment, the homes, the beaches and the history of Nevis all from the perspective of the people who live on the island.
Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry said the book is a great illustration of Nevis through the eyes of the people. He also congratulated Ms. Sullivan for reaching her goal and making this book a reality.
“I talked to a number of persons- from the Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry to Mother and Homemaker, Ms. Mary Browne; I must say it was a blessing to do this book,” commented Ms. Sullivan.
Meanwhile, Ms. Sullivan noted that the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society have received an oral history grant, which would assist young people in recording the lives of Senior Nevisians. She said that she looks forward to supporting the young people who take up this project and ensure that an oral history of Nevis’ rich past be told.
