Nevis Students Told To Take Advantage Of Business Opportunities

Charlestown, Nevis (April 27, 2007)

Minister of Trade and Industry and Youth the Hon. Hensley Daniel urged a group of business studies they should think of ways to apply technology to business ideas to make them more viable.
 
He also urged them to take advantage of opportunities which the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) would soon make available to youths on the island, who were interested in setting up their own businesses.
 
The students who hailed from the Charlestown, Gingerland and Lynn Jeffers Secondary Schools, met with Mr. Daniel at the Conference Room, Government House at the Bath Hotel on Wednesday April 25, 2007, as he gave them encouragement ahead of their participation of the East Caribbean Central Bank’s annual Trade Fair in Basseterre on Friday April 27.
 
Mr. Daniel told the students since the new Administration had taken office, it had given a special amount of attention to creating entrepreneurship among young people.
 
Notwithstanding, he explained that the Administration would soon launch a Youth Enterprise Scheme for persons under the age of 29. He said the Administration had budgeted a half million dollars in its 2007 Budget to accommodate young people interested in business.

Nevis To Participate In Tourism Youth Congress

For the first time in the history of the Travel and Leisure Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s Youth Congress, a Nevisian student will represent the island to perform the role of Junior Tourism Minister. The successful student will join other counterparts from the Caribbean at the seventh annual Congress later this year
 
At their first meeting at the Old Manor Hotel in Gingerland on Friday April 20, 2007, Premier and Minister of Tourism and Education the Hon. Joseph Parry told the six participants representing the three Secondary schools on Nevis, that his visit with them was meant to give encouragement, as they prepared to debate among themselves the topics which had been assigned to them.
 
He urged them to take the debate seriously, to seek assistance from as many informed persons as possible to ensure a debate of a high standard.

Nevis Premier Featured At British Virgin Islands Gala

Premier of Nevis, The Honourable Joseph Parry, was featured prominently at the Nevis Alliance Progressive Society (NAPS) of the British Virgin Islands Fifth Anniversary Gala Recognition Dinner and Dance held at the Moorings Mariner Inn in Tortola, British Virgin Islands on Saturday, 21st April 2007.
 
To mark this special occasion, four members of the British Virgin Islands community who over the years have contributed significantly to the development of the territory was honoured. The honourees were: Mrs. Enid Pickering- Business, Mrs. Marris Hodge- Wright- Humanitarianism, Mr. Jacob George- Law Enforcement, and Mr. Evermond Rabsatt- Boating.
 
The huge gathering included keynote speaker, Nevisian Dr. Edward Griffin escorted by his wife Angelica, Governor Hon. David Pearey, Chief Minister Hon. Dr. Orlando D. Smith and Members of Parliament.
