The St. Kitts Marriott is introducing reduced room rates and American Airlines discounted airfares for Florida residents.

According to Centredaily.com Business section, “due to economic hardship and increasing gas prices, travel has become a luxury most Americans cannot afford.”

In response to the demand for affordable travel options, the St. Kitts Marriott Resort has reduced room rates for Florida residents to US$99 per night and supported an initiative with American Airlines to offer discount airfare for travel from Miami.

“Concerns about the economy and increases in airfare costs are making it impossible for travelers, even for Florida residents who are so close to the Caribbean,” said Simon Bell, Director of Marketing for the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Simon Bell.

“This sale will provide those residents with an affordable Caribbean vacation option, despite the difficult times,” said Belle.

Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) is reporting higher revenues and improved profits in 2007.

The parent company, TDC, which made pre-tax profit of EC$15.3 million in 2007, said OTI, a 71-room and 8 condominium hotel, benefited tremendously from the ICC Cricket World Cup matches that were staged in St. Kitts during that year.

“This along with management’s success at winning’s back former corporate customers resulted in higher revenues and improved profits compared to last year.  Several initiatives were taken that resulted in solid cost saving in other areas despite high maintenance and utilities costs,” said the TDC Group report.

The company said its TDC Airline Services Ltd in St. Kitts made a loss last year following a small profit in 2006. The loss was incurred despite management’s best effort and increased revenues from the Western Union businesses.

TDC Airline Services Nevis Ltd also had a very challenging year in which it again sustained a Net Loss.

Nevis Premier Asuures Hotel Workers Of Fair Treatment

Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism  the Hon. Joseph Parry told employees of the Four Seasons Resort that the Nevis Island  Administration (NIA) under his leadership stood for hard work, honesty and decency.  The Premier made the statement on Wednesday March 19, 2008, while he delivered an address at the Four Seasons Resort Employee Award ceremony. 
 
He said the NIA would support the employees and gave them the assurance that the Administration was proud of their hard work.
 
“I do not know why but sometimes I get the impression that workers in Nevis do not realise that the government is here for you.  I have a reputation in the past when I worked with the workers and helped the workers and I maintain that reputation.  This is what we stand for, we stand for hard work, we stand for honesty, and we stand for decency.
