Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry will be a guest speaker this Sunday at the Mannings Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church, in Butlers Village in celebration of its 80th Anniversary and Rededication services. The activities will be held over a period of three days, December 19-21, 2008.

On Friday, 19th, a candlelight service will be held at 7:00pm, where members will pay tribute to founding members and other stalwarts of the church. The following day, Saturday, at 9:30am the 80th Anniversary celebration will continue. A Rededication Service of the remodeled church building will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, December 21 when activities climax.

The Mannings SDA Church in Butlers was built in 1928 and is the mother church of all the Adventist churches on the island. It has a unique history, having produced outstanding citizens dedicated to ministry, including four ordained ministers ““Pastor Edson Sutton now residing in the United States of America, Pastor Orville Sutton, Pastor Roosevelt Daniel and Pastor Irvine Pinney.

Nevisian Author, Mr. Whitman Browne, who began the Pathfinders group at the church and Dr. Josiah Maynard a recently retired Education Director of the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists, were also respected members of the Mannings SDA Church.

The church is also known for its community services. For the past 17 years the Mannings SDA church has served approximately 45,000 hot lunches to senior residents of Zion, Butlers and Brickiln villages.

Public Relations officer of the Church’s Anniversary celebration, Ms. Andrea Bussue commented, “We have come thus far by faith and to God be the glory.”
