For Immediate Public Release

As the academic year begins, two additional schools in Nevis will benefit from the school feeding program.  These primary schools are the Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls (VOJN) and the St. James’ Primary.

The Ivor Walter Primary and St.Thomas’ Primary schools are already benefiting from the program, which has been running successfully for a number of years.

In early June, the Premier of Nevis, the Hon Joseph Parry, spoke with the parents of the St. James Primary school and education officer Mrs. Lonnette Connor to seek guidance and opinions and how they envision the program will run in the school.

While discussing how the program will be financially implemented Premier Parry said, “The school feeding program will be financially assisted by the government, but parents are asked to make a small contribution.”

The program is designed to ensure that young people receive nutritious lunches on a daily basis.
