Premier of Nevis, Hon Joseph Parry will be the Keynote Speaker at this year’s annual Hearts and Hands for Nevis (HHFN) luncheon on Sunday, January 20th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in East Elmhurst, New York.
“I am so honoured to be chosen as the featured speaker for the Hearts and Hands luncheon this year. The organization has played a pivotal role in keeping a strong bond with Nevisians residing in New York and the community at home. They have been very charitable to their homeland over the years with donations to numerous institutions and programs, such as the essay competitions for our young people on the island. I hope to see much more growth of this organization in the future and continual ties with Nevis,” said Premier Parry.
The luncheon will be just one of the activities for this fully packed weekend. To highlight this luncheon, the participants will be treated to the fantastic, cultural entertainment of the Folklore dancers of Nevis, the Masquerades, Poetry and Songs and Music by DJ Cory. The weekend will also include a panel discussion on the topic: Entrepreneurship: Options for Creating Income and Wealth, at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in the Bronx, on Saturday, January 19th. Immediately following the panel discussion will be a show and dance featuring legendary St.Kitts-Nevis Calypsonian’s, Meeko, Dis- N- Dat, King Ellie Matt and Junior Calypso King -The Mighty Inspirer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
The Hearts and Hands of Nevis have developed several programs over the years which have impacted areas in Nevis, such as the Public Library, The Nevis Red Cross and the Alexandra Hospital.
Over the past years, this organization has honoured at least one person from the Nevis community with a Humanitarian Award. This year awards will be given to Nevisian businessman, Mr. Ken Evelyn and former Premier of Nevis, Hon. Vance Amory
