Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry will be in attendance when the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Economic Union Treaty is signed later today in Basseterre.
The December 29th, 2009 signing ceremony will commence in Basseterre, St. Kitts at 5:00 p.m. at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium at the Headquarters of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB). Representatives from the member states of the OECS are expected to attend the ceremony.
The original Treaty of Basseterre was signed on June 18th, 1981 by the member states of the OECS in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
The Organization is an inter-governmental organization dedicated to economic harmonization and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of good governance between countries and dependencies in the Eastern Caribbean.
