Charlestown Nevis (July 24, 2006)
Following a brief swearing ceremony of the two Junior Ministers of the Nevis Island Administration earlier today, Premier, the Hon Mr. Joseph Parry welcomed them to their first Cabinet meeting moments after they took their oath of office.
The Ministers, Mr. Carlisle Powell and Mr. Dwight Cozier took the Oaths of Office and of Secrecy of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) as well as members of the Nevis Island Cabinet, before Her Ladyship, Justice Ianthea Leigertwood-Octave. The brief ceremony was held at the Cabinet room, at Bath Plains.
Mr. Powell will serve as Junior Minister in the Ministry of Communications, Works, Public Utilities, Post, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Environment with special responsibility for Public Works, Public Utilities, Post, Physical Planning, Flood and Water Control and Environment.
While Mr. Cozier will serve as Junior Minister in the Premier’s Ministry with special responsibility for Research, Audit, Elections, Urban and Rural Development and Craft Production.
Meanwhile, the Hon Mr. Robelto Hector took another oath of office as Minister of the Nevis Island Administration with additional responsibility for Agriculture, Lands, Housing, Cooperatives and Fisheries. He was previously sown in as Minister with responsibility for Physical Planning, Communications, Works, Public Utilities, Post, Natural Resources and Environment.
Mr. Ashley Farrell, Cabinet Secretary and Mr. Patrice Nisbett, Legal Advisor also took their oath of Secrecy.
The brief ceremony was witnessed by other members of the Nevis Island Cabinet and chaired by the Cabinet Secretary Mr. Farrell.
