A joint meeting of the Nevis Island Administration and Federal Cabinets has been scheduled for Monday, June 28th. The meeting is expected to commence at the Marriott Hotel in St. Kitts from 10:00 am.
Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry said it would be the first joint meeting for the year and his Nevis Reformation Party (NRP)-led Cabinet was ready to discuss a number of issues including devolution of power.
Among the issues slated for discussion at the meeting are Geothermal Energy, Police, Corporate Taxes, State of the Economy, Four Seasons Resort, Value Added Tax (VAT), Crime and Wind Energy.
“We (NIA) are ready to continue to work on devolution. I strongly believe that people on all levels and all walks of life on both islands, need to get informed and involved in the devolution structure so that we can achieve much as one nation,” commented the Premier.
He said that he looked forward to the meeting because much had taken place since the last meeting which was held in 2009.
“I do believe there is much that is needed to be discussed and worked on for the future of this Twin Island Nation,” he said.
