The Electoral Office of St. Kitts and Nevis is advising the General Public that Notices concerning the Nomination of Candidates for the Nevis Island Assembly Elections have been published by the Returning Officers for the five (5) Electoral Districts in accordance with the provisions of Section 54(1) of the National Assembly Elections Act, Chapter 2.01.  This action was consequent upon the issue of Writs of Election by His Excellency Sir Edmund Wickham Lawrence, Governor General for the election of Members of the Nevis Island Assembly which will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

The Notices of Nomination fix Monday, January 14, 2013 as the day for Nomination of Candidates.  Nominations will be received by the Returning Officers at the following places between 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the mentioned day.

Mr. Alsted Pemberton will collect Nominations for Electoral District Nevis (1) at the Charlestown Police Station,

Mr. Alford Tyrell will collect Nominations for Electoral District Nevis (2) at the St. John’s Primary School, Brown Pasture

Mr. Hanzel Manners will collect Nominations for Electoral District Nevis (3) at the Gingerland Police Station

Mrs. Ilene Walwyn will collect Nominations for Electoral District Nevis (4) at the Newcastle Police Station

Mrs. Lornette Queeley-Connor will collect Nominations for Electoral District Nevis (5) at the Cotton Ground Police Station

Each candidate must be nominated by two (2) nominated voters of the Electoral District for which the candidate seeks election.  Each nominated candidate is also required to deposit with the Returning Officer the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars ($150.00).  This deposit will be refunded provided the candidate receives over one-eight (1/8th) of votes polled in the Electoral District.
