Nevis Contributes To Caribbean Gift And Craft Show

Charlestown Nevis (September 7, 2006) The Chief Executive Officer of the Nevis Tourism Authority, said that the Caribbean Gift and Craft Show was important to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Nevis Tourism Authority attributed that to the fact that visitors, especially visitors to the island of Nevis, would have an opportunity to peruse the exhibits that would be on display.  The Nevis Tourism Authority observed that visitors were interested in buying things that are authentically Caribbean.Speaking to the Government Press, the Nevis Tourism Authority CEO expressed, “Incredibly important.  We are absolutely thrilled that this very, very important show has finally come to the Federation.  We have been familiar with the show when it was held in Barbados and we knew that some of our designers and manufacturers have attended that show with much success.”

The Caribbean Gift and Craft Show, which is in its 13th year, would be held at the Marriott Hotel in St. Kitts during the period September 14 to 17, 2006. Accordingly, 19 exhibiters from St. Kitts and Nevis would be among 207 exhibiters from 30 countries within the Caribbean.  The show is expected to have about 157 booths where some 300 trade buyers from the USA, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean are expected.

Mrs Marissa Claxton, one of the booth operators from Nevis told the Government Press that she was thrilled to be a part of the exhibition.  She noted that it was her first opportunity to display her talent on such a large scale. Mrs Claxton produces jewellery from sand box and shack-shack seeds.
