With its historic fourth-term election victory in January, the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party holds its 78th Annual National Conference this coming Sunday 16th May.
The Labour Party’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms. Wanda Connor disclosed the delegates will meet at Beaumont Park under the theme “Commitment and Efficiency today means greater advancement for all.”
She said the Opening Session begins at 10:00 A.M. with over 500 delegates and dignitaries from the diplomatic and consular corps and non-governmental organisations in attendance.
Welcome and opening remarks will come from Labour Party Chairman and Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade, Industry and Commerce; Agriculture, Marine Resources, Consumer Affairs and Constituency Empowerment, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, M.P. (St. Christopher 7 ““ Labour).
Following the remarks by the Featured Speaker, Professor of Political Science at UWI’s Mona Campus, Jamaica, Dr. Neville Duncan, the newly-crowned Miss Labour 2010/2011, her runners-up and other contestants and the honouring of the mothers from the 8 constituencies on St. Kitts, the National Political Party Leader, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, M.P. (St. Christopher 6 ““ Labour), will address the Conference.
The public session will be followed by the Business Session attended only by delegates during which the Conference will receive the Report of the National Executive and the Financial Report from the Treasurer.
Resolutions from the National Executive, the 8 branches, Young Labour and Labour Women will be debated and auditors will be elected.
The Conference will also elect officers and the new National Executive before the adjournment.
