Nomination Day took place here in Nevis for those vying for the Federal Election between three members of the governing Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) and three members of the Opposition Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM). Both parties will contest seats in the Federal Parliament during general elections on Monday, January 25, 2010.

The NRP which has been in power since July 2006, presently holds one seat in the Federal House with St. James/ St. Thomas representative, the Hon. Patrice Nisbett. The Concerned Citizens Movement presently has two seats.

Candidates had from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm today, to be nominated in the presence of two registered witnesses from their respective constituency. They must also pay a deposit of $150 to the returning officer of their constituency at the Nomination Center.

Meanwhile, at 7:00 pm tonight at the Flat’s in Cole Hill, the Nevis Reformation Party will officially launch its three candidates for the upcoming Federal Election, the Hon. Hensley Daniel, Mrs. Patricia Hanley and the Hon. Patrice Nisbett.

The entertainment for the evening will include local Calypsonian’s Nutsy, Hollywood, Mr. Mention, and Star Shield. Music will be provided by sound system Wreck Life Movements and local bands Ulti-mate and Nu Vybes.
