“SOL has no recommendation before the Government at this present moment for an increase in Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) ““ cooking gas,” Minister responsible for Energy, the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin told the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly Wednesday afternoon.

Responding to what he said were “much discussion and talk” in the community and reports in the electronic media and social networks, that Government intends to increasing the price of LPG by 100 percent, Minister Martin said he used the opportunity during the course of this week to speak with General Manager of SOL ““ the main importer of LPG in his capacity as Minister of Energy.

“He has indicated to me in no uncertain terms, Mr. Speaker, that SOL has no recommendation before the Government at this present moment, has no recommendation for an increase in LPG. So I want to clear the air on that particular matter as it pertains to LPG as it has been making the rounds on radio, twitter and Facebook that there is an increase,” said Minister Martin.

Twenty pound gas tanks are sold at EC $30.00 and the 100 pound tanks at EC $140.00.
