The Department of Youth Empowerment in St. Kitts in partnership with the Division of Youth Services in Nevis will be hosting its third entrepreneurial training using the Creativity for Employment and Business Opportunity (CEBO) manual.

The training begins on Monday, January 14, at the St. Johnston’s Community Center and will be attended by youth from both islands.

Senior Youth Officer Pierre Liburd told SKNIS that while the previous two workshops held in November in Sandy Point, St. Kitts and Cotton Ground, Nevis were successful, this training will see someĀ  modifications designed to enhance the trainee experience and understanding of the course material.

The most prominent change is the extension of the programme from five days to six to allow for an extension of the operation of the simulated businesses, which is done on the fifth day of the workshop. This was done primarily to enhance the selling experience by utilizing the fifth day to analyse sales and marketing strategies, and decide how to reinvest for the second day of selling.

The National CEBO Training is sponsored by the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis. In a previous press release, Shavon Douglas, head of the bank’s Business Support Unit explained that the entrepreneurship development programme fits into the mandate of the financial institution. The youth focus area made the investment more appealing.

Mr. Douglas is among persons expected to give remarks at the course opening. The Director of Social Services in Nevis Sandra Maynard and the Director of Youth Empowerment Geoffrey Hanley is also scheduled to address the opening.
