St. Kitts – Nevis
February 01, 2008
The Fisheries Department has been receiving reports of dead fish found floating in various locations in St. Kitts and Nevis waters. Fishermen and individuals finding such lifeless fish are advised to bring them into the Department of Fisheries for testing. However, such fish should be handled with care and not eaten.
Special note should be taken of the location in which the floating fish was found and the behavior of the other fish in the vicinity as this would aid the present investigation.
Dead fish should be brought to the Fisheries Department on the Bay Road in St. Kitts or the Fisheries Department at Prospect Estate in Nevis. Persons can also call 465-8045 or 466-8739 in St. Kitts or 469-5521 ext. 2088 or 2161 in Nevis to report any finding.
The assistance of the general public would be greatly appreciated in ensuring that the investigation comes to a swift conclusion.
