February 15, 2010
Lawyers acting for Mr. Lindsay Fitz-Patrick Grant, Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement, have indicated that the Election held on 25th January 2010 for constituency #4 covering Challengers to Half Way Tree Villages, will definitely be challenged in the High Court of Justice as an undue election.
Mr. Lindsay Grant has confirmed that he intends to present an election Petition to The Court seeking to overturn the result of the said election. In the Election Petition, according to Mr. Lindsay Grant’s lawyers, the Court will be asked to denounce as unconstitutional the practice of registering voters in constituencies where they do not reside.
The People’s Action Movement, will also prosecute a number of corrupt and illegal practices which influenced the result of the election. These practices include allegations of Bribery, Treating and getting persons who were prohibited by law from voting, to vote in the said election.
The People’s Action Movement will continue to press for a change in government in St. Kitts and Nevis and PAM remains confident that that change is imminent.
