Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry recently commended First Caribbean International Bank, as they embarked on a project to help bring the family and community together.
“It is so good to see private entities play a tangible role in the building of families and stronger communities, here on Nevis,” said Premier Parry.
During the month of November the programme dubbed “Adopt ““A Cause” encourages the family, community and businesses on the island to go back to the idea that it takes a community to raise a child.
Branch Manager, Ms. Jasmine Parris remarked, “This year the bank has realised the very important role that the family and community play in the lives of our children. Therefore, the activities planned for this family/no television week under the theme, “Family and community, Charting or Children’s Destiny”, would engage the entire family in normal activities with the exclusion of the television, video games and similar non-productive activities.”
The program was adopted at different intervals by the schools and on a regular basis in a number of homes.
Some of the activities during the “Adopt -A- Cause” programme were Family Feud- Caribbean Style and a BBQ/Games night.
All in all the project received positive feedback said Ms. Parris, she also stated that the hope is other entities will observe this venture and do their part to bring families and communities together for positive benefits for our children.
