St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas is praising incoming Labour Party candidate Glenn “Ghost” Phillip for answering the call to serve the residents and work with the young people of Constituency # 4 and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“I spoke with him a few months ago. He is now demonstrating his readiness to serve by opening his own constituency office and joining with the sitting Parliamentary Representative, the Hon. Rupert Herbert, to serve the people of this constituency,” said Prime Minister Douglas, who spoke on Saturday at the official opening of the office on Main Street, Old Road.

Prime Minister Douglas described the incoming candidate as “a young man who is kind, fair, giving, respectable and wanted in Constituency #4.”

Prime Minister Douglas said recent surveys have indicated that a majority of the people in Constituency # 4 “favour Glenn “Ghost” Phillip as the next Parliamentary Representative.”

“They have a higher opinion of him than (PAM Leader) Mr. Lindsay Grant. Most people in this constituency have a higher opinion. It is not only the majority of Labour supporters, it is also a large number of  PAM supporters and also those people who say they are not affiliated to any of the parties, also prefer Mr. Phillip,” Prime Minister Douglas told the large crowd.

“A majority of the residents are of the view that Mr. Phillip will be a better representative in Parliament than Mr. Lindsay Grant. It is not those who go around this country and the world telling people that they are the next Prime Minister in waiting. It is what the majority of the people in this constituency want. The people say they want somebody who is humble, able to serve their interests and not someone who born with both golden and silver spoons in their mouth,” said Prime Minister Douglas.

Dr. Douglas endorsed the pledge of Mr. Phillip to work with the young people of Constituency # 4.

“He said he is committed to stand tall with them. He is committed to work hard with them and he is committed to work to make sure that they behave themselves properly and he is also committed to build all of the communities in this constituency from Challengers where he was born, to Old Road, Verchilds, Lamberts, Middle Island, Conyers, Godwin Ghut, Half Way Tree and New Guinea. He is committed to work with the people of these communities to continue to build them. And he said he will do so fairly and justly and he said he will do so without victimisation,” said the Prime Minister.

“Mr. Phillip has said he needs to open his office to listen and talk with his people in confidence; to listen to their ideas and suggestions so that he can try and improve the quality of life of the people in this area,” said Prime Minister Douglas.

In a special message to the young people of the constituency, Prime Minister Douglas called on them to “love him, walk with him, protect him and vote for him whenever the elections are called.”

Mr. Phillip is to replace current three-term Parliamentarian, Minister of Health, Social and Community Development and Gender Affairs, Hon. Rupert Herbert.
