Small Hotel Managers Attend OAS Workshop

A two-day workshop designed to assist small and medium sized hotels in St. Kitts and Nevis to better understand and operate in the online environment and to make use of the available information and communication technologies to improve their marketing strategies opened here on Monday. The workshop on Revenue Management for Managers and Supervisors of Small Hotels, is a collaborative exercise between the Organisation of American States (OAS), through its Office of Trade, Tourism and Competitiveness and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, through its Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture.

In remarks given at the brief opening ceremony, OAS Representative in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr. Starret Greene said that the OAS was pleased to sponsor the workshop on Revenue Management.

Mr. Greene added that the exercise was an extension of the Small Tourism Enterprise Program (STEP), which was introduced in the Caribbean member countries of the OAS in 2001.

The workshop was formally opened by the Minister of State for Tourism, Sports and Culture, Sen. the Hon. Richard “Rickey” Skerritt.

This initiative forms part of a regional effort by the OAS to help improve revenue management in small hotels, as part of the Caribbean Experiences project.

Participants are drawn from the Frigate Bay Resort, Ottleys Plantation Inn, Ocean Terrace Inn and Timothy Beach Resort on St. Kitts as well as from Oualie Beach Resort on Nevis.
