Nevis To Clean Up Voter List

The reconfirmation of registered voters would help to clean up the voters list Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry said.
 
The Premier who is also leader of the Nevis Reformation Party, made the statement last Friday January 25, 2008, during a briefing with the media at his Bath Plain office in Charlestown.  He encouraged voters to make use of the ongoing reconfirmation exercise at the Electoral Office.
 
“I am glad that something has been done and we have been telling our people – the people of Nevis that they need to reconfirm. One of the good things about it is that it would clean up the list.  There has been a problem with the list.  From time to time we have seen people’s name appearing as people who are dead and it has been a problem for us.

St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Rawlins Addresses Federation’s UWI Graduates

Justice of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court the Hon. Hugh Rawlins told graduates of the University of the West Indies (UWI) in St. Kitts – Nevis that they should continue to justify their existence in positive and meaningful ways.
 
The Nevis born Appeals Court Judge who was also a former student at the University, urged the students to impact the community meaningfully, during a ceremony for the recognition of UWI Graduates from St. Kitts and Nevis. The event was held at the Old Manor Hotel in Gingerland on January 19, 2008.
 
“The journey has just commenced and there are many more steps that you will take before your life’s end to justify your own existence”¦Your teachers obviously encouraged excellence and not mediocrity, in their endeavours which go a long way to justify their existence,” he said.

St. Kitts – Nevis Meets Agricultural Land Demand

Minister responsible for Agriculture Honourable Cedric Liburd has revealed that government continues to meet the increased demand for land on the part of former sugar workers.

During an interview with the St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service he said that thus far over 100 former SSMC employees have received land for crop and animal production.  Minister Liburd said this was done with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organisation which provided just over $1 million.  He said due to the success of the project including the earnings of the farmers, other former sugar workers have requested land.  He said that some of the applications were reviewed at the Cabinet meeting last Monday.
