Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance Hon. Joseph Parry said that his Administration would take Nevis to unprecedented levels, unmatched in the Caribbean and the best place to live.
 
He made the comment on February 04, 2008 at Lower Stoney Grove during a ground breaking ceremony to signal the commencement of works by Jamaican based Surrey Paving and Aggregate Ltd. on four major areas of road in Charlestown.
 
“We are taking Nevis to a level that would be unmatched in the Caribbean. Nevis must be and will be the envy of all the Caribbean with first class roads, with an outstanding water system, with good electricity and jobs in tourism, in technology and financial services and with some work in agriculture and fisheries and other industrial activities, Nevis will be a great place to live.

The recently-opened St. Kitts and Nevis Embassy in the Republic of China on Taiwan will expand the potential of both governments to build on their relationship, further facilitate the myriad of diplomatic, business and technical and other forms of bilateral cooperation that under-gird constructive relations between sovereign states.

So says St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas at the official opening of the office in Taipei, who added that cooperation with Taiwan over the years has yielded impressive results in the areas of agriculture, community development, sports, infrastructure expansion and diplomatic training.

Dr. Douglas described the opening of the Embassy as an important day in the special and ever-evolving relationship between the Government of the Republic of China on Taiwan and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.

St. Kitts – Nevis Farmers Team Up With Taiwan Technology

Local farmers in St. Kitts and Nevis are expected to benefit from a new technical cooperation agreement signed between the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China on Taiwan.

The new agreement will provide for the introduction of new agriculture and fruit crops to the twin-island Federation.

St. Kitts and Nevis’ Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Cedric Liburd said the new agreement will also extend technical assistance to the fishing industry and develop the aqua-culture sector. “This will enrich the diet of our population and also improve food security,” said Liburd, during a signing ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affiars in Taipei.

Minister Liburd also said that the agreement will further provide assistance and develop the horticulture industry as well as provide the necessary technical help in conducting a feasibility study to determine the suitability of growing certain exotic food crops in St. Kitts and Nevis.
