St. Kitts and Nevis To View Christophe Harbour Development

The much talked about Christophe Harbour on St. Kitts’ Southeast Peninsula will be presented to the twin-island Federation on Sunday.

Kiawah Development Partners, Auberge Resorts, Mandarin Oriental and J.B. Turbidy have invited scores of government officials, members of the business community and nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis to the presentation, which takes place on Sunday 4th November 2007 at The Royal Ball Room of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and the Royal Beach Casino.

Developers and experts involved in the multi-million dollar project will give government officials, businessmen and resident an overview, discuss hotels employment issues and provide pertinent information on the marina village, destination and environmental impact and the expected luxury resort experience.

Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas said Monday that the “Christophe Harbour” development on St. Kitts’ Southeast peninsula has already brought considerable recognition to the island and has begun to generate huge amounts of economic activity.

Prime Minister Douglas, who was in New York for the official announcement of the multi-million dollar tourism project by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group said the “type of up-market tourism that we are now targeting and which this development represents, provides the most potential for the development of spin-off businesses on island, while simultaneously providing more jobs with better wages and salaries without the need for large numbers of hotel rooms, so they bring the maximum revenue to island without a huge detrimental environmental impact.”

Prime Minister Douglas and Minister of State for Tourism, Sen. the Hon. Richard “Ricky” Skerritt were among officials when the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced that it will manage a new luxurious 125-room resort with 20 Residences at Mandarin Oriental on the island of St. Kitts in the British West Indies, which will open in 2010. The Group now has a portfolio of five resorts open or under development in the Caribbean region.

Sedona Resorts To Manage The Golden Lemon Hotel

Belmont Resorts Limited is to purchase the Golden Lemon Hotel in Dieppe Bay and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has ensured that business prospects of the hotel and the job security and benefits of its employees will be greatly improved.

This was disclosed Wednesday evening by Minister of State for Information, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty following Wednesday Cabinet Meeting.

He said that The Golden Lemon, with its present capacity of 26 rooms is expected to be refurbished and re-opened by November 2007 with an additional expansion phase planned for some time in 2008.

“The new and refurbished Golden Lemon Hotel will be managed and marketed by Sedona Resorts, a well-established leading upscale spa and resort management group from the United States. Sedona will appoint professional management with the relevant experience, and current members of staff will be retained,” Mr. Carty disclosed.
