St. Kitts – Nevis Ministries Of Trade Collaborate

Junior Minister with responsibility for Trade on Nevis Hon. Dwight Cozier reiterated the Nevis Island Administration’s (NIA) commitment to ensure a reduction of the cost of living in Nevis and would collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Trade in its endeavour to achieve that goal.
 
The Minister made the comment while he welcomed a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Trade led by Ambassador and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade Her Excellency Rosalyn Hazelle, on Thursday March 27, 2008, at his Bath Plain office.
 
“The Nevis Island Administration is committed to the institution of policies that will ensure a reduction of the cost of living in Nevis and as part of those policies we understand the need for collaboration with the Ministry of Trade in St. Kitts,” he said.

Federal & Nevis Island Admin. Meetings To Be Increased

Meetings of the Cabinets of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Nevis Island Administration are to be increased.

This was one of the decisions coming out of the recent joint meeting of the two Cabinets held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and the Royal Beach Casino, which also discussed crime, devolution of power, immigration and fiscal matters.

A communiqué issued said efforts aimed at improving relations between the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration as well as between the people of St. Kitts and Nevis received a timely boost during the meeting.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Federal delegation was led by Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and the Nevis Island Administration was headed by Premier the Hon. Joseph Parry.

Nevis Premier Bids Farewell To Taiwan Ambassador Liu

Nevis Premier Parry bade farewell to outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan in the Federation His Excellency Mr. John K Liu and Mrs. Liu, during a face-to-face discussion at his Bath Hotel office on Monday, March 18, 2008.
 
Mr. Parry expressed to Ambassador Liu that he was not happy to learn that his diplomatic tenure was about to end. He extended gratitude to the Ambassador for his government’s overall contribution to Nevis and for its future prospects to enhance cooperation between the two countries and by extension, Nevis.
 
The Premier further spoke of the areas in which Nevis and Taiwan had the greatest exchanges.
 
“Mr. Ambassador, I must tell you that we had a very great relationship and we enjoyed many good times together. Your country has been very supportive to St. Kitts and Nevis and you supported Nevis both in Agriculture and in the area of financing the proposed Fine Arts Theatre,” said Premier Parry.

Nevis Premier Applauds Pioneers Of Independence

Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph Parry says St. Kitts and Nevis should seek to honor those pioneers who contributed to the nation’s independence. 
 
The Premier made the statement on Sunday march 16, 2008, when he addressed the congregation at an ecumenical service at the Charlestown Methodist Church.  The service organized by the Nevis Christian Council ushered in activities to commemorate the silver anniversary celebrations of the independence of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
 
“We must give honor to them for their contributions that they have made to St Kitts and Nevis and Nevis in particular. As we seek to give credit and we seek to applaud those who contributed, we have to remember those who contributed before the last 25 years because many generations have slaved, work hard, made sacrifices to bring us to where we are today and for this, we should be proud and we must remember them.

St. Kitts – Nevis Voter Registration – 5,000 Confirmed

The Supervisor of Elections in St. Kitts and Nevis is reporting that 238 persons registered as new voters and 2,337 confirmed their registration during the month of February.

Mr. Leroy Benjamin also disclosed that between December 17th 2007 and February 29th 2008, 5,169 persons confirmed their names on the Voters List, while there were a total of 559 new registrations for the same period.

He said that the Confirmation Lists were delivered to all political parties in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis last Friday 14th March 2008.

The Supervisor of Elections also released a breakdown of the Confirmation and New Registrations by Constituency and Polling Division for the period 27th December 2007 to February 29th 2008.
