Charlestown, Nevis
March 19th, 2007
The Starwood hotel brand “W”, comes to Nevis with experience and style that fits into the up-market destination which Nevis has been known for “, – says Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Joseph parry, as he stated in the house of assembly on Thursday, March 16, 2007.
The Starwood, the parent company of “W” will introduce its highly acclaimed, luxurious property, with a 150 ““ room hotel, under an agreement with the Nevis island administration.
When the doors open on January 1st 2010, the hotel will be located in the Pinney’s area, which is in close proximity to the city center of Charlestown.
“Nevis will not assist with any infrastructure needed for the hotel, that will come solely from the Starwood property to construct the hotel and they will have to hire a percentage of local people for the construction process,” said premier parry at an earlier press conference.
The Starwood hotel has a brief, but shining history, which began in New York in 1998. An instant phenomenon, its success drove the development of more than a dozen destinations-including Sydney, Los Angeles, Honolulu and New Orleans- all in a one-year span.
The “W” hotel presently has establishments in Barcelona, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Santiago, Athens, Istanbul and Vieques to name a few of the international cities where “W” provides upscale, business accommodation.
A visionary for tourism, the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) was the government that brought the five-star Four Season Resort to Nevis in 1989.
Ev, thanks for the great photos of Nevis. I stopped by your blog awhile back and left a post about your husbands surprise 50th birthday trip to Nevis, and the HORRIBLE flight you had. Unfortunately my link to my blog did not show up :(
Greetings,
I stopped by your website and blog as I had submitted my post about our Nevis vacation to Fark. I was surprised by the number of seemingly well traveled people who didn’t know about Nevis. And wondered why I did and others didn’t. It’s good to know the W is opening a hotel on Nevis.
I have great pictures of Nevis at http://3legs2dimensions.blogspot.com. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my post. Best wishes.
