Cabinet has pledged to ensure adequate garbage disposal and has disclosed that new trucks have been ordered and another one placed into service to resolve the recent problem of waste disposal.
At its request, Cabinet received an update during its Monday meeting and was informed that the two new garbage trucks will be in service by the end of April.
Mechanical failure in a number of garbage trucks belonging to the Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC) recently resulted in an abnormal pile up of garbage in several areas.
“The Minister of Health (Hon. Rupert Herbert) reported that one additional truck has so far been purchased and that two additional trucks that have been ordered will be in operation by the end of April,” said Minister of State for Information, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty.
