St. Kitts – Nevis Police Investigate Another Murder

On Thursday 28th October 2010 at approximately 7:50 p.m police officers from the Anti-Gang Unit who were on routine patrol, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Special Services Unit (SSU) and officers from Basseterre Beat and Patrol Unit responded to a report of shooting in the Newtown area. Police investigations revealed that Corey Griffin 18 years old of Ponds Extension, who also resides at Shadwell Estate was shot multiple times by his unknown assailant(s) who were travelling north to south along Pitcairn Street in a vehicle. Griffin’s motionless body was discovered by officers at an alley adjoining at Pitcairn Street. Attendants from the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were summoned to the scene as well as Dr. Mervin laws the District Medical Officer who pronounced Griffin dead on the scene. The Coroner Mrs. Josephine Mallalieu-Webbe gave permission to remove the body and as a result the body was taken to a funeral home under police escort. Police officers from the Crime Scene Department processed the scene and collected a number of items considered to have evidential value. There are no suspect(s) in custody as yet for this matter but investigations are ongoing. However, the police are making a general appeal to persons who may have information regarding this crime to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Ext-220, 231,236 or 466-8361/2.

On Friday 29th October 2010 at approximately 12:37 a.m police officers from the Anti-Gang Unit who were on routine patrol, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Special Services Unit (SSU) and officers from Basseterre Beat and Patrol Unit responded to a report of robbery in the Camps Estate area. Police investigations revealed that Woman Police Inspector Richardson and daughter Kerlyn Williams travelled to their Camps estate residence in their car, Inspector Richardson drove, and when they got close their gate Inspector Richardson got out of the car to close her neighbor’s gate and was attacked with a wooded plank by an unknown assailant. Inspector Richardson suffered injuries to her head while she and her daughter were robbed of a number of items. Inspector Richardson was taken to the JNF General Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and discharged. The scene was processed by officers from the Crime Scene Department and a number of the stolen items have since been recovered by the detectives. There are no suspect(s) in custody as yet for this matter but investigations are ongoing. However, the police are making a general appeal to persons who may have information regarding this crime to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 465-2241 Ext-220, 231,236 or 466-8361/2.
