Sharon Rattan, chair of the Independence 30 Celebrations Committee, has extended a special invitation for persons to go out and participate in the National Fitness Day activities being held on Saturday, September 07.

The event starts at three different points around St. Kitts at 4:00 p.m. Persons riding bicycles will set off from Molineux, the starting point for runners is Cayon while walkers will proceed from Keys. The participants will make their way towards the finishing point at Greenlands in Basseterre.

“We would like to see persons from gyms, gym owners, sporting associations, exercise groups and people that walk on the streets normally [for exercise] as well as athletic groups be a part of this [event],” Ms. Rattan said on this week’s edition of Perspectives.

She noted that persons should wear black bottoms and the top part of the clothing should be any colour in the national flag.

The traditional Independence mini-marathon which is sponsored by the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is included as part of this activity.

Ms. Rattan added that persons who remain active with regular exercise and proper dieting typically lead healthier lives.
