The St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank Limited has renewed its commitment to the development of female basketball in the Federation of St. Kitts-Nevis. The largest indigenous bank in the Eastern Caribbean on Monday handed over a cheque of $10,000.00 to the President of the St. Kitts Amateur Basketball Association (SKABA), Mr. Kenroy “Rommel” Tobias as the institution’s sponsorship of the 2011 SKABA Female Basketball League.

The SKABA Female League was introduced in 2005 at which time The Nation’s Bank immediately gave its support as the league’s first and only sponsor since then. The Bank has remained committed to the development of sports and in particular female basketball.  Since 2005, National has contributed or supported in some way every year since the inception of the league. NATIONAL BANK has contributed over $35,000.00 to the development of Female Basketball over the last six years alone.

The National Bank SKABA Female League 2011 currently features six teams including defending champions the Lady Blue Devils, the Lady Roots, lady Tuff Knots, Ross University, Cayon Lioness and the Lady Spartans.

The significant support for the development of female basketball by National Bank has resulted in the successful participation of the St Kitts National Female Basketball Team in the annual Antigua CPSTA Caribbean Invitational Tournament where they have placed in the top three for each of the last tournaments in which they have participated.

The SKABA Female League also boasts four (4) college players currently playing at American Universities namely Tennille Lapsey, Brescia Audain, Maliesha Caesar and Shacarma Warner. Over ten (10) female basketball players have gained college scholarships since the inception of the SKABA Female League and the partnership with National Bank.
