Celebrations marking the 30th Anniversary of Independence for St Kitts and Nevis will be grand. So says, chairperson for this year’s organizing committee, Sharon Rattan.
The Independence Celebrations Committee made up of representatives from various Ministries of Government and civic organizations, have been meeting regularly to formulate a program of events.
In developing this year’s program, Ms. Rattan said the committee is guided by the desire to have events that will foster a greater sense of national pride. She encouraged all to participate in whatever way they could in celebrating the Independence of the twin-island Federation.
Speaking of the events, she said, “the National Heroes Day Programme in St Pauls, the traditional Independence Day Military Parade, the Prime Minister’s Lecture Series and the National Church Service are standard events as in years past. She added that the committee has brainstormed on some new events, with the goal being to bring more direct participants into the Independence celebrations.
Ms Rattan also stated that the theme has yet to be decided and encourages the public to submit their ideas to the committee via email [email protected].
