The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis accepted a gift of eight ISO tanks from PDV (Petro Caribe) St. Kitts Nevis Limited for the transportation and storage of butimen, a key ingredient in the processing of asphalt, on August, 28, 2012.

Senior Manager at PDV St Kitts Nevis Limited, Oakland Peets, said the tanks valued over $400,000 USD and demonstrated a kind gesture by PDV and the Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to assist partnering countries in meeting their infrastructure development needs. He further stated that this gift is another example of PDV’s commitment to the Federation over the last seven years.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Housing, Public Works, Energy and Public Utilities, Lenrick Lake, responded on behalf of Minister responsible for Energy, Honourable Dr Earl Asim Martin.

“The gift of eight tanks, each with a holding capacity of 6,600 gallons, provides the Public Works Department with a ready supply of asphalt which is critical to our ongoing efforts towards road repairs and preservation,” Mr. Lake noted.

He also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Ministry to PDV St. Kitts Nevis Limited for their continued support.
