Independence Square is the new home for one of the season’s more popular events, “In the Spirit of Christmas.”
Dorette Liburd of the Department of Culture told SKNIS that the venue change from the Circus will greatly enhance the production of the show and afford more space for spectators.
The three-night show begins next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and concludes two nights later. The vibrancy and talent of young people will be featured on opening night. A number of youth acts are slated to perform including Kittitian Superstar winner Karina Phillip. Church groups share the stage the following night with other talented performers as they showcase their creativity in song and dance. Government ministries and workers from the industrial site bring the curtain down on the show on Thursday (December 13).
Telecommunications company UTS-CariGlobe continues its annual tradition of providing toys that will be distributed on the final night of the show to less fortunate children.
Ms. Liburd credited “Chippie” for its continued support. She said that the public is excited about the show’s return but confessed that interest is waning among performers and explained that the Department of Culture is considering ways to revive interest among public and private sector entities.
