Basseterre, St. Kitts (April 24, 2005):
The increasing popularity of the Federation of St. Kitts – Nevis as a Tourist destination is becoming more evident with spontaneous and impromptu articles and accolades coming from the international arena.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and Culture Hon. Richard Skerritt disclosed that Saint Kitts – Nevis is well on its way towards creating a tourism product that can compete on a world-class level.
He referred to exciting news stating that St. Kitts was named in Islands Magazine as one of the Top Twenty Islands to live on in the world.
Travel and Leisure Magazine also called Saint Kitts “The Place to Go Next”, while the Wall Street Journal devoted a full page to discuss tourism development on the island. All of these were unrequested by the Ministry of Tourism.
Minister Skerritt made this announcement at the opening ceremony of the Tour Operators’ Symposium being held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort from April 23-27.
The Minister said Saint Kitts – Nevis would have to cement strategic alliances with its local and international partners to maintain the high profile it has achieved in the marketplace.
