Sandy Point Going for 6th Straight Title

The 2011 St.Kitts Amateur Basketball Association Junior division League is expected to kick off this Saturday March 19th at Basketball City.
Seven teams have registered for this year’s youth tournament up from 4 last year. The teams are Rams Hitters, Horsfords Ghetto Roots, Blue Devils, and Bird Rock Uprisers along with Trotters who will be returning after a few years absence. The defending Champions the Fruta Falcons will be fielding an unprecedented 2 teams for this year’s tournament.
“I think this new executive that I am privileged to lead has start this SKABA season on a good note with an improvement in the number of teams participating in this year’s Junior Tournament, said SKABA President Romel Tobias
“Last year we had just 4 teams and this year we have increased the number of participating teams to 7 which is a significant improvement. I think this is good for the future development of the SKABA,” Tobias continued.
The Fruta Falcons team has won the last 5 SKABA Junior League Championships and will be shooting for an unprecedented 6th straight title
The start of the league will feature .all seven teams from the Junior Division the Opening night match-ups will feature an “A” Division clash between the Shawn K. Richards Sandy Point Chappurtin and the newest addition to SKABA the Nevis based PJ’s. The second match will see the 5 time defending Champions Sandy Point Fruta Falcons and Rams Hitters in a re-match of last year’s final. The First day of the regular season will be on Sunday 20th March. . The junior league is expected to run into the first week of the national league which has a tentative open date of Sunday April 17th.
