POLICE INVESTIGATES MURDER & ATTEMPTED MURDER

On Tuesday 24th May 2011 at approximately 8:30 pm police at Basseterre received a report of a shooting incident at Shadwell Estate. As a result police officers from the Special Services Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department responded immediately and their enquiries revealed that 17 year-old Kelvin Hazel and Elron Wilkinson both of Shadwell Estate were shot in the Shadwell Estate area. Hazel died on the scene and Wilkinson sustained gunshot injuries to the body and was taken to the JNF Hospital where he received emergency medical treatment and was warded in stable condition. The District Medical Officer was informed and Hazel was pronounced dead on the scene. The Coroner was also informed and permission was given for the body to be removed to a funeral home under police escort. The scene was processed by members of the Crime Scene Department and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for further analysis. A number of persons were taken into police custody to assist with the investigations and two persons were subsequently charged with the offences. Investigations are ongoing.

On Saturday 4th June 2011 at 12:25 pm police from the Criminal Investigations Department Basseterre formally arrested and charged a Fort Thomas Road juvenile and 19 year-old Kai Cabey also of Fort Thomas Road on warrants in the first instance, each for the murder and attempted murder of Kelvin Hazel and Elron Wilkinson of Shadwell Estate respectively. The offences were committed on Tuesday 24th May 2011 at approximately 8:20 pm at Shadwell Estate. The juvenile and Hazel were remanded to HM Prison on Monday 6th June 2011. Investigations are ongoing.
POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT AT NEWTOWN

On Monday 30th May 2011 police at Basseterre received a report of a shooting incident which had occurred in the Newtown area at approximately 8:45 am. Police officers from the Criminal Investigations Department and the Special Services Unit responded immediately and their investigations revealed that 20 year-old Adrian Stapleton of Bath Village, Nevis but who presently resides at Neverson Street, Newtown, was at James Street when an armed mask man got out of a car and fired several shots at him. Stapleton received gunshot injuries to his upper right back and knee and was taken to the JNF Hospital where he received emergency medical treatment and was warded in stable condition. The scene was processed by officers of the Crime Scene Department and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for further analysis. There are no suspects however investigations are ongoing.
 

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING WITH INTENT AT BUCKLEY’S ESTATE

On Wednesday 1st June 2011 police at Basseterre received at report of a shooting incident at Buckley’s Estate which had occurred at approximately 7:30 pm. As a result police officers from the Criminal Investigations Department and the Special Services Unit responded immediately and their investigations revealed that 27 year-old David Thomas of Buckley’s Estate was walking along the road in the vicinity of the line gate at Buckley’s Estate when an armed assailant fired several shots at him. Thomas sustained gunshot injuries to both legs and was taken to the JNF Hospital by Emergency Medical Services where he underwent emergency medical treatment and was warded in stable condition. The scene was processed by officers of the Crime Scene Department and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for further analysis. Two persons were arrested on suspicion and investigations are ongoing.
POLICE MADE ARRESTS FOR WOUNDING WITH INTENT

On Saturday 4th June 2011 at approximately 5:55 am police at the Criminal Investigations Department formally arrested and charged the following persons for unlawful and malicious wounding which were committed upon David Thomas of Buckley’s Estate on Wednesday 1st June 2011 at Buckley’s Estate:

· 25 year-old Omax Bye of Fort Thomas Road.

· 19 year-old Vance Thomas of Fort Thomas Road.

Investigations are ongoing.
POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT AT Mc KNIGHT

On Saturday 4th June 2011 police at Basseterre received a report of a shooting incident which had occurred in the Mc Knight area at approximately 7:50 pm. As a result police officers from the Criminal Investigations Department and the Special Services responded immediately and their investigations revealed that 23 year-old Jermaine Wilkinson of Cornell Street was at his residence when a masked gun man entered his yard and fired several shots at him. Wilkinson ran in the area of Horsfords Road in an attempt to escape his assailant who followed him and fired more shots at him striking him several places about his body. Wilkinson collapsed in the premises of the Red Cross building where he was rescued by police officers who rushed him to the JNF Hospital where he received emergency medical treatment and was warded in stable but serious condition. The scene was processed by officers of the Crime Scene Department and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for further analysis. There are no suspects at this time however investigations are ongoing.
 

POLICE INVESTIGATES SHOOTING INCIDENT AT PONDS PASTURE

On Saturday 4th June 2011 police at Basseterre received a report of a shooting incident which had occurred in the Ponds Pasture area at approximately 12:30 pm. As a result police officers from the Criminal Investigations Department and the Special Services responded immediately and their investigations revealed that 19 year-old Damien Jeffers of Ponds Pasture was at Camella Hancock Street, Ponds Pasture when two men armed with gun attacked him and fired several shots at him. Jeffers ran and escaped his assailants and was rescued by police in the area of the Courts Warehouse. Jeffers sustained gunshot injuries to his right lower back and the right side of his buttocks and was taken to the JNF Hospital by police where he received emergency medical treatment and was warded in stable condition. The scene was processed by officers of the Crime Scene Department and items of evidential value were collected and taken into police custody for further analysis. Police are in search of a suspect and investigations are ongoing.
 

POLICE INVESTIGATES SUICIDE AT BIRD ROCK

June 07, 2011

On Monday 6th June 2011 police at the Criminal Investigations Department received a report at approximately 3:18 pm that a suicide had occurred at Robin Street, Bird Rock. Police investigations revealed that 25 year-old Trilok Singh a national of India and of Indian decent was found at his residence at Robin Street, Bird Rock hanging from the ceiling and he appeared dead. The District Medical Officer was summoned to the scene and he pronounced Singh dead. The Coroner was also informed and permission was given for the body to be removed to a funeral home under police escort. An autopsy will be performed at a later date while investigations are ongoing.
