“It was so heartening to see the smiles on the faces of those kids when they received their gifts and played in the bouncing castles. This is what Christmas is all about”.

This was the sentiment of Deputy Chariman of the People’s Action Movement Jonel Powell at the conclusion of the first annual Market Street Kids Christmas Fair held on Sunday December 23rd on Market Street.

The event was organized by a small group of Market Street residents including James “Barman” and Julie Hanley along with businessman Everton “Jabou” Dolphin. Almost 200 kids from Market Street and the surrounding areas of Dorset, College Street , Freemans Village and even as far as Greenlands and McKnight flocked to Upper Market street to participate in the Christmas cheer.

The young Attorney Powell commended the Hanley’s and the Dolphins for putting together the event and also thanked them for giving him the opportunity to contribute and participate.

“I am very humbled and honored to be afforded the opportunity to contribute and participate in this event,” said Powell.  “I have to commend Barman and Julie Hanley along with Everton “Jabou” Dolphin on spearheading this event which I have already committed to contributing to annually moving forward,” Powell continued.

Powell took the opportunity to mingle with the children and interact with many of the parents who were also present and who all seemed eager for the Attorney’s antiticpated official entrance into the political arena as the representative for Constituency #2.

Also present at the Christmas Party was the federation’s esteemed first Prime Minister Dr. the Rt Hon. Sir Kennedy Alphonse Simmonds.
