St. Kitts – Nevis‘ Prime Minister Denzil L. Douglas has thanked Timothy Harris for his service to the Labour Party’s Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher 7 (Ottley’s to Belle Vue).

“I want to thank him for his services as the Labour Party representative. But it is time to move on and move on we must,” Prime Minister Douglas told over 700 supporters assembled inside and outside the Joshua Obadiah  Williams Primary School on Wednesday night.

Dr. Douglas, who is also the Political Leader of the governing St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party said that Dr. Harris “has made it absolutely clear that he is no longer with the Labour Party nor the Labour Government. Yesterday he signed with five others, a letter that was sent the Governor General and with a statement to the press. They (Harris and the Hon. Sam Condor of West Basseterre) have made it absolutely clear that they no longer support the Labour Party (and) Government,” said Prime Minister Douglas.

“They will now (they say) support the PAM party and the opposition in Parliament. We therefore, having recognized that Harris has left the Constituency #7, that Labour elected him to Parliament. He having declared that he no longer wishes to represent the Labour Party in this constituency, we as the National Executive tonight will make sure that we put in place the necessary structures to move beyond Harris in this constituency,” said Dr. Douglas to the jubilant cheers of the large crowd.

Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin; Minister of Health, the Hon. Marcella Liburd; Minister of Youth Empowerment, the Hon. Glenn Phillip and Minister of Agriculture and Education, Sen. the Hon. Nigel Carty as well as National Executive Committee and Branch members.

The crowd included several supporters from other constituencies
