Charlestown Nevis (March 11, 2007)
Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry said that the Nevis Island Administration [NIA] has demonstrated its maturity as a government, which was evident through its recent negotiating achievement with two major institutions.

“Our representation is for all the people of Nevis and we are proud of this and every Nevisian must know what we have achieved in two short weeks with two institutions.  What we have achieved in eight months to demonstrate that we are mature government, that we represent the people and we can negotiate at all levels in the interest of the people of Nevis and that we are successful in doing it as well”, Premier Parry said.

During a recent interview with the Department of Information, the Premier made reference to the successful re-negotiations with the Newfound group developers and the re-establishment of the Public Utilities Commission that effected a suspension of the increased rates for Caribbean Cable Television subscribers on the island.

CHARLESTOWN Nevis (March 08, 2007)
Charlestown Primary School dominated the Gulf Insurance Inter Primary Schools Athletic Championship dubbed the Nevis’ Mini Olympics at Grove Park on Wednesday March 07, 2007, as they captured the overall winner’s trophy for the third consecutive year.

The athletics meet which was organised by the Nevis Amateur Athletics Association and the Department of Education involved eight events among the eight primary schools on the island.

At the end of the eight hour meet, Charlestown Primary had amassed 257 points; Gingerland Primary 170; Ivor Walters Primary 88; St. Thomas Primary 150; Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls Primary18; Charlestown Preparatory 85; St. James Primary 76 and St. Johns Primary 33.

Master Donne Dyer of the Charlestown Primary emerged Victor with 20 points while Miss Tyra Lewis and Miss Uniqueko Willett tied for the position of Victrix with 20 points each.

In what could be described as a colourful and peaceful afternoon, hundreds of patrons crowded Grove Park to witness the keenly contested events and enjoy the half day holiday which was granted by the Nevis Island Administration.

CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (March 08, 2007)
Premier of Nevis and Minister of Finance the Hon. Joseph Parry denounced critics who claimed that the renegotiated deal with Canadian developers Newfound Group and the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) led Nevis Island Administration (NIA) for the development of Pinneys Estate was for party politics and not in the interest of Nevisians.

The criticism had been levelled against the NIA following the announcement of the new arrangement by Mr. Parry, Hon Hensley Daniel, the Hon. Carlisle Powell, Hon. Dwight Cozier and Cabinet Secretary Mr. Ashley Farrell and a team from Newfound comprised of Mr. Brian Dobbin, Mr Michael Morton president of the TDC Group of Companies and Mr. Todd Reppert during a press briefing at Bath Hotel on Friday March 02, 2007.

In an interview with the Department of Information on Wednesday March 07, 2007, Mr Parry said anyone who believed that it was just a political issue was someone who was not sensitive to issues surrounding the deal, who was un Nevisian and someone who had no love for Nevis but held more interest in party politics and assume power to manipulate the people of Nevis.
