Nevis PM Calls For Healthier Lifestyles

Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas has called for nationals to exercise more and lead positive healthy lifestyles.

The Prime Minster made the call during a brief ceremony on Monday where Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) presented a cheque for the construction of the Bird Rock athletic facility. Prime Minister Douglas said the inclusion of an exercise track was strategically planned.

“We need to have our people exercise more on a regular basis,” said the Prime Minister. “Apart from eating well, they must exercise, and so for the first time in this country we are going to provide a proper exercise track,” he explained, noting that persons who walk in popular areas such as Frigate Bay face challenges with vehicular traffic.

The new facility will eliminate that and other associated dangers.

Taiwan Invests In Sports Facility in St. Kitts – Nevis

The Republic of China (Taiwan) renewed it’s commitment to support the development of human resources and the sporting infrastructure in St. Kitts and Nevis on Monday.

Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) His Excellency John Liu presented Prime Minister and Minister of Sport Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas with a cheque for US $1.4 million to be used for the ongoing construction of the athletic facility at Bird Rock.

Ambassador Liu explained that the vision of the government is extremely progressive and Taiwan was proud to have St. Kitts and Nevis as a partner.

“I wish to commend your government on the initiative taken to improve your sporting facilities and the hosting of so many international games in your country,” he said. “My government will continue to assist in the economic development of your country and improve the well-being of your people.

“Today is a continuation of our pledge,” he stressed.
