Four Seasons Nevis – Asked To Remove Beach Blockage

Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism Hon. Joseph Parry said he was satisfied with the positive and swift response of the management of the Four Seasons Resort with regard to a number of issues that were of concern to the Nevis Island Administration.
 
Mr. Parry said during a meeting with the Hotel’s General Manager Mr. Andrew Humphreys on Monday July 16, 2007, at Bath Plain, they discussed what he described as what was a burning issue for a number of Nevisians of stones the hotel had placed on the beach to extend its property two years ago.
 
“If we recall the history of that issue, two years ago stones were put down on the beach near the Four Seasons property to expand the 18th hole of the golf course. That expansion somewhat deprived persons of using the beach. The stones were on the sand and a gangway was placed east of the beach for people to cross.

St. Kitts – Nevis Citizens Ready For Any Disaster

Any damages in St. Kitts and Nevis caused by Hurricane Dean, which is currently churning in the Atlantic Ocean, or any other natural or man-made disasters will be quickly assessed by a pool of trained persons thus expediting recovery efforts.

Twenty-five persons are being trained at a two-day workshop to be a part of the National Disaster Assessment Committee. The training began on Thursday and is being conducted at the headquarters of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

“At the end of the two days, all of the individuals will be able to go out ““ when the all clear is given, after a disaster ““ and do an initial damage assessment of physical structures,” NEMA’s District Coordinator Telca Wallace told SKNIS, adding that the training was timely.

The course is being facilitated by Beryl Ambrister, the regional consultant for the United States’ Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance. She explained that her visit to St. Kitts and Nevis was not prompted by the approaching storm but instead is part of a previously planned programme.

Nevis Student Earns Top Caribbean Essay Award

Top winner of the 2007 Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Foundation Children’s Essay Contest Ms. Christina Ram of the Charlestown Primary School, said that she looked forward to her trip to Cozumel Mexico, where she will receive her cash prize of US $3,000.
 
Ms. Ram who was accompanied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parikhan Ram of Ramsbury, during a visit to the Department of Tourism‘s offices at Bath Plain on Wednesday August 15, 2007, told the Department of Information, that she was looking forward to her visit and to return to Nevis with her monetary prize.
 
In a statement from the Department of Tourism, Local Contest Coordinator Ms. Vanessa Webbe, said that Ms. Ram and her chaperon (her parents Mr and Mrs Parikan Ram would receive an all expense paid trip to attend the opening ceremony of the FCCA Caribbean Cruise Conference on October 09, 2007 in Mexico.
