Mark Brantley – Nevis Tourism Minister
Charlestown, Nevis
October 13, 2013
A large Federal delegation, jointly led by Federal Tourism Minister Hon. Richard Skerritt and Nevis’ Minister of Tourism Hon. Mark Brantley is currently visiting the United Kingdom (UK).
The trip, a partnership between St. Kitts, Nevis and British Airways, was organised to aggressively market the tourist destination.
The delegation comprising hoteliers, realtors, tourism officials and other stakeholders from St. Kitts and Nevis on October 10, 2013, hosted tea at the Lanesborough Hotel in London for top travel writers and journalists in London.
Brantley said he hopes that this effort translates into greater press exposure for Nevis and an increase in travel to the island visitors from the UK and the rest of Europe. He added that the trip would also give new Chief Executive Officer of the Nevis Tourism Authority Greg Phillip an opportunity to showcase what Nevis has to offer.
“The UK market is a critical market for both St. Kitts and Nevis. Mount Nevis Hotel, Oualie Beach Resort, Montpelier Plantation Inn, The Hamilton Beach Villas and Spa, Four Seasons Resort, The Hermitage Plantation Inn, Nisbet Plantation Inn, Ocean Terrace Inn, Ottley’s Plantation Inn, Kittitian Hill, the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Timothy Beach Resort, Dreamy Weddings and Tours and Sugar Bay Club are all represented,” Brantley said.
In his capacity as Deputy Premier of Nevis, Brantley was, on October 10, expected to meet with Jonathan Leake, Energy and Environment Editor for the Sunday Times, the UK’s leading newspaper. According to Brantley, Leake has offered to feature Nevis’ geothermal thrust in the newspaper’s October 13, 2013 edition.
“Coverage like this is virtually impossible to get,” Brantley said.
The delegation was also expected to host a cocktail event for St. Kitts and Nevis High Commissioner in London His Excellency Kevin Isaac and UK tour operators on October 10, while on October 11, the delegation is expected to host a breakfast for top travel agents, during which presentations about St. Kitts and Nevis would be made.
