Premier and Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Joseph Parry expressed his elation with the first ever Tourism Road Relay Race on Nevis planned for Friday, April 29th.
“I believe that the Ministry of Tourism’s creation of a Road Relay is a brilliant idea to keep people conscious of exercise and the Tourism market here on the island,” commented the Premier.
The Tourism Road Relay race will take place in and around the streets of Charlestown from 3:30pm.
Tourism Development Officer, Ms. Nicole Liburd said that based on building the 2011 Tourism Week theme,” Tourism, Our Treasure” the Ministry wished to focus on the valuable human resource assets within the industry in a fun and motivational way.
“We are inviting all our Tourism partners to make the Road Relay Race a true success,” commented Ms. Liburd.
The route will take participants around the Charlestown area and are expected to be drawn from Primary schools, Tourism Partners Relay and Tourism Invitational Relay.
The proposed lengths of each leg will be approximately a quarter mile to half mile. A team of 4 individuals combined male or female will run the legs of the relay race.
The team winners will be crowned the first ever Tourism Road Relay Race Champions.
