Premier and Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration, Hon. Joseph Parry commended locally owned GMP Graphics and Printing Company for its sponsorship of two new events on the Nevis Tourism Week’s calendar.

Owner of GMP Graphics and Printing business, Mr. Greg Phillip is presenting the GMP Cycling Classic; a 30 kilometer bike race on Saturday 6th February at 3:30 pm, along with the GMP Triathlon Championships on February 13th.

The bike race will begin and conclude on the Samuel Hunkins Drive and the Triathlon will begin and end on Pinney’s Beach in the vicinity of Chevy’s Beach Bar.

“GMP Graphics and Printing is passionate about Tourism and the benefits it delivers. The organisation feels strongly that sport tourism deserves more attention and assistance to develop than it is given.”

“In that light, the funds that are raised from the cycling and triathlon events will respectively be donated to the Major Taylor Honor Day cycling event to be hosted on February 27 and 28, and the Nevis Triathlon on March 21, 2010,” said Mr. Phillip.

The Major Taylor is in its third year and over 50 individuals from neighboring islands are due on Nevis to participate in the event.  In each of the past two years, the Nevis Triathlon has attracted over 200 visitors.

The entry fee for each event is EC$20.00 per participant.  Both experienced and novice athletes are welcomed.  If anyone is not inclined to participate, donations are welcomed in support of Nevis’ two largest annual sports tourism events.

For more information or to participate please call 869-469-1299 or email Mr. Greg Phillip at [email protected].
